Taking a trip to the galaxy far, far away will soon be a reality, but you’re going to need to start saving up if you want to experience this one-of-a-kind experience! Disney Parks unveiled our best look yet at Disney World’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, the lavishly designed hotel and immersive experience coming to WDW in 2022. Galactic Starcruiser is sure to give fans the Star Wars experience of their dreams. Think of it like a two night cruise on land—a cruise in which Star Wars stories, characters, and environments completely surround you. They have created a website dedicated to the experience. You can view sample itineraries and explore ship spaces at the Galactic Starcruiser website.
Let’s take a look at the pricing, though. People have been speculating about what it would cost as soon as it was announced. Well…..we don’t have to speculate any longer.
Is this expensive? Absolutely! It’s out of the average person’s price range, which is understandably disappointing for most people. I have seen everywhere this week of people commenting on the high price tag. But honestly, I’m not that shocked. Early speculations actually thought it would be much more, and I’m a little surprised it’s not. You have to remember, even though this is only a two day experience, it is COMPLETELY immersive.
Guests arrive to a terminal at WDW resorts. There, they check in and board a launch pod that takes them to the Halcyon, a luxurious Star Wars cruise ship. The experience simulates flying into space. Even all the “windows” aboard the ship look into space. Once aboard, guests begin their adventure, which can include sabacc lessons, exploring the bridge, dining in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, lightsaber training, and more. Star Wars characters, including aliens and droids, appear throughout the ship and will engage guests in storylines. You can particpate as much or as little as you would like to. Your trip even includes a visit to Batuu, the immersive Star Wars land located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
So in reality, and in the usual Disney fashion, you get a lot of magical bang for your buck. I’m not a huge Star Wars fan myself. My husband and son love it though, so I’m sure someday in their future will be a trip on the Halcyon.
